10-Man Loot Rules
Here's an idea that we the officers feel will address some concerns that have come up with regards to the 10 man and imminent 25 man raiding that we are fast approaching.

Since we have more raiders than the current 10 man instances can accomodate, we've decided to implement a "Team" approach. The teams we've come up with are in no way setup to promote an "alpha" and "beta" or bestest and not-quite-as-good teams. We will strive for balance and a good mix of classes on both teams.

Blue Team - lead by Lebercro & Ftin - 8:30pm EST raid time

Red Team - lead by Dejavu & Helini 9:30pm EST raid time

As with any plan, compensation has to be figured into it as well, so we've decided to do Loot this way:

Main Loot Distribution Model (summarized) is:
  • 10 Man loot (a) - Tier 4 Tokens shall cost 25 DKP per token, and shall contribute to DKP as the 25 man raid items do (0 Sum DKP). for more information see the dkp site.
  • 10 Man loot (b) - Roll on all loot based on logical choice of users in raid. Any BOP items not thus claimed will be DE'd and shards stored in guild bank
  • 10 Man loot (c) - Each person is allowed to win one item per night based on random roll unless no one else needs or is eligible for an item that has dropped.
    • For example: Helini rolls on a pair of +dmg gloves and wins. Later on a +shadow dmg belt drops. There is no warlock in the raid, and she is the only priest therefore she can opt to receive the item. If there were a warlock or another priest, Helini could not roll unless all other eligible individuals passed.
    • Items that must be purchased with DKP are excluded from this restriction.
  • 25 Man loot - DKP for all Purple or better loot - Values are still being worked out at this time... more to come. Those with a current balance will retain 10% of said balance or 20 points (whichever is greater). New DKP members get a seed value of 20 points
  • All green loot - Greed Roll, if the item is an upgrade for a raider (NOT one of his alts) then they should talk to the person who won the greed roll.
The Loot Distribution Procedure shall be thus:
  • if a Green item drops, all greed roll.
  • If a BLUE or PURPLE item drops, all pass, and the designated Loot officer will ask "appropriate classes" to roll. Winner will loot or have the item awarded by the loot officer.
  • For DKP based raids (25 man or 10 man tokens) see the dkp site for details on bidding, costs see Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair DKP
In all cases, we ask that when rolling, you the user use common sence. If an item is announced for your consideration, if it is not an upgrade, don't roll... simply announce "Pass"

25-Man Loot Rules
Loot Procedure for 25 man Raids

Definitions:

  • The Raider MUST declare what their main specialization is to their Class Leader and it must be documented on the boards. No declaration, no loot (main or off spec).
  • Classes whose main armor type matches that of the item to be looted will have first opportunities for the item. For example, primary cloth wearers get first shots at cloth, primary leather wearers at leather, etc. This provides that classes with higher armor categories available to them may still bid on an item IF AND ONLY IF no Main spec wearers of that armor type want the item.
  • Feral Druids will have equal chance for leather DPS and Tanking gear, however gear specifically deemed Feral Tanking will be discounted slightly in price as they do have to gear both sets (its the price you pay for being so multi-dimensional) and have to compete with Rogues for the DPS gear.
  • Raiders who change spec for progression sake will still have to bid on their declared main specialization until such time as the alt/progression spec becomes their main spec (if ever). NO EXCEPTIONS!

Loot Procedure Members, Main Spec items:

  • Standard DKP rules apply. If you want it, you have to pay for it.
  • Priority bidding for classes with the main armor type matching that of the item.
  • Feral druid tank items will be discounted for Feral druids as per the DKP lists (WIP by Hug and Deja... )

If no Main member DKP bids are received...

Alternate/Initiate, Main Spec items:

  • Standard DKP rules apply. If you want it, you have to pay for it.
  • Priority bidding for classes with the main armor type matching that of the item.
  • Feral druid tank items will be discounted for Feral druids as per the DKP lists (WIP by Hug and Deja... )

If no DKP bids are received...

Off Spec items:

  • The items will be /rolled upon by all raiders in the raid who will use it. In this case, the term "use it" means that the person rolling will in fact use the item in their off spec roll. There will be no DKP charged, nor will there be any accrued.
  • Any abuse of this will be closely monitored and dealt with by the member's Class Leader or the Guild Leader.
  • At some point in the future, if we find the system is not working, we reserve the right to go back to DKP for Off-spec items, and re-evaluate the system.

If no one rolls, a Shard is created.

Note on Main Armor Type items:
The main armor type of a given class will always be given preference if it matches that of the gear. For example, primary cloth wearers can only possibly wear cloth so they will always be given the first opportunity to bid on cloth items. This does not mean that leather, mail or plate wearers cannot bid on cloth items. They may freely bid only after no main spec cloth wearers want the item.

Note on Feral Druid items:
The rationale for the discounting of Feral Druid tank gear is put in place because Feral Druids are unique in that to be viable (in the context of OUR raiding style) they REQUIRE both DPS and tanking gear. As they have to compete with Rogues for their DPS gear and we require them to have both DPS and Tank sets, they are being given a small incentive. The exact detailing of the items and the pricing is a Work in Progress (WIP) at this point.

Example:
First we offer gear to Main's, main-spec only. These acquisitions are DKP acquisitions and if the item is for your main-spec, you must acquire it in this phase and pay DKP, you cannot pass in the hopes of getting it "free" at a later stage.

If no main, main-spec takes the item, we offer the item to alts, main-spec. Again, these are DKP acquisitions and if it is your main spec you must acquire it now for DKP.

If no main-spec toon, main or alt, claims the item, it is then offered up to off spec. This is a non-DKP acquisition and is only open to those that have not declared the main-spec associated with the item. A main spec, attempting to acquire loot for their main spec at this stage would be considered abusing the system.

The one change would be that in the first paragraph, it should be Member, Main spec, and the second paragraph would be Initiates and Alternates, Main spec, with the third paragraph being for all raiders, Off spec.

Nether Vortex Distribution
If you have an item that you would like to upgrade, please post what it is and how many [Nether Vortex] you need to make it happen in the Nether Vortex Crafters thread.

We will track all upgrades, patterns and work in progress stuff in this thread.

  • A raider who has an item to be upgraded or pattern bids with DKP to earn the right to the next available [Nether Vortex] drops.
  • Cost is 15 DKP for 2x[Nether Vortex] items and 30 DKP for 5x[Nether Vortex] items.
  • list of new items or upgrades in progress will be maintained in this post.
  • If the crafter does not get all the [Nether Vortex]s they require for their item in one session the progress of the collection will be handled in a first in first out (FIFO) basis as the crafters are available.
  • DKP will be charged to the individual, but the raid will not receive DKP credit for these "purchases"

Loot Rules

Cataclysm utilizes a DKP-based loot system. DKP is short for Dragon Kill Points. In short, DKP is a rather detailed score-keeping system used by guilds to fairly distribute loot based on participation and contribution to the guild.

Earning DKP

There are multiple ways to earn DKP:

* Attending a raid. These are raids organized by the leadership with a “defined” start time and proposed end time (usually 8pm to 12am EST (GMT -5). Typically, these raids will consist of ventures into raid zones including: Kharazhan, Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair, SSC, TK, MH, BT, and beyond.
* Incentive DKP - Where the guild is venturing into a totally new zone or encounter which is typically harder than the current raid zones, to reward the raiders who are willing to help learn these encounters, 1 DKP will be awarded per attempt on these new encounters (to a maximum of 10 DKP per raider). If the boss of that encounter is beaten, Raid DKP will be awarded instead of the Incentive DKP.
* Providing materials needed to sustain a raiding force. For each stack of materials sent to the material bank, Materialgirl, DKP will be accrued by the member to a maximum of 20 DKP per month. The materials that are needed and the amount of each are posted on the Cataclysm Raid Materials List. Members with a DKP balance of 100 or more will not be eligible to earn DKP from turn-ins.

Accrual Model

Zero Sum

Cataclysm uses a “zero sum” method to calculate DKP which means that points are only awarded when loot drops. The amount of points awarded is divided by the number of players in the raid at the time the loot dropped.

For example, if 80 DKP worth of items drop and there are 40 people in the raid at that time, then each player gets 2 DKP (80 / 40 = 2).

On Time Bonus
At this time we do not have an on time bonus. It was decided to do away with this mechanism... However, please be prompt!

Earning DKP
Unless specifically stated at the beginning of the raid, you will accrue points on the character you are playing. If you are asked to change characters mid-raid, you will accrue points on BOTH characters split evenly between them, based on timing and boss kills during the raid, unless you specifically state you would like to keep all points for a specific character.

DKP Transfer
You may NOT trade or give or "loan" DKP to another player. What you earn is yours and yours only.

Non-scheduled Raids
"Pickup" raids organized before or after scheduled raids do NOT contribute to DKP. The organizers of these raids should discuss loot distribution before starting and it is their responsibility to do so. Guild leadership cannot be held responsible for loot awarded outside of scheduled raids.

Summary

Tracking DKP
All DKP will be tracked on the DKP portal. While there are addons for accessing the DKP system in-game, this shall be the official source.

This system will be administered by Llywelyn, Faylyn, Helini and Stabbo (this list is subject to change and will be updated accordingly). Any discrepancies should be noted to one of these individuals, preferably in writing (forums or in-game mail).

DKP will be assumed to be accurate before a raid. If it is not, we will use the recorded DKP as of the beginning of a raid event and make adjustments if there are agreed upon adjustments.

Spending DKP
Priority will be given to specific classes for some items based on the Cataclysm Outland Priority List.

Priority works as an indicator of who can bid for an item and in what order. The highest priority class(es) will get first consideration for the item.

Quest Items
DKP will NOT be charged for quest items, except for the Tier 4 Tokens. These have a set cost of 25 DKP.

DKP Freezes before Raids
DKP balances (for raid purposes) will be frozen 1 hour before the proposed start time of a raid.

Going Negative
DKP can go negative, however you cannot purchase any more items if you have a DKP balance of -75 or less. The exception to this rule is that you are the only person in the raid that wants an item and the item is BoP.

Purchasing items in a Raid
DKP can be used to "purchase" BoE and BoP items that drop during a raid.

DKP can only be spent by the character in the raid, and for an item to be used by that character.

DKP will be deducted from the player's balance as they win a bid. If the player's balance goes below -75 during a raid, they will not be allowed to bid further for items (with the noted exception above).

Purchasing from the Guild Bank
DKP can be used to "purchase" BoE items stored in the guild coffers for the same amount as if the item dropped in a raid to a maximum of 90 points.

Purchases by New Members (Initiates)
Initiates may only bid on an item if all members have passed, and then only if they have a positive balance. There will be no deviation from this.

Bidding Procedure

1. Item is announced in Raid and the DKP amount is announced with it.
2. Bids are taken in a private manner, /tell is the preferred manner.
3. Effective DKP balance is calculated and the bidder with the highest effective balance is awarded the item, and their DKP balance is adjusted.

Additional Bidding Rules

* If there is a tie between two or more bidders, those who have tied will /roll for the item
* Thirty (30) seconds are allowed for bidding, and all bids are acknowledged.
* If no bids are received and the item is BoP, it is dischenchanted and the resulting resource is sent to Imastorage.
* If no bids are received and the item is BoE, it is sent to Catabank for sale or saving for guild DKP "purchases".

DKP Adjustments
If you ever find that your DKP total is not what it should be, please post in the DKP Adjustment Thread.

Common mistakes include missing standby contribution, not being counted as present for a raid, or even missing item purchases.

We will try to rectify all discrepancies, but you must tell us about them before we can do anything!
